The health care industry is undergoing dramatic transformation as insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid change the way they pay for health care services.

For decades, we have had a reimbursement system that generally pays doctors and hospitals for every test, procedure or service they provide to patients. But today, we are rapidly shifting to a system that rewards the healthcare providers who show they can deliver better outcomes for patients at a lower cost.

At Sacred Heart Health System and its parent organization, Ascension, the nation’s leading non-profit healthcare system, we have embraced this transformation because it’s the right thing to do for the patients and communities we serve.
